C.A.R.E. is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission of providing a hand-up to the residents of Porterdale.  One of our main programs is awarding financial assistance to Porterdale residents pursing their education beyond high school, including GED certificates.

Program Details

  • Applications accepted, reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis.
  • Awards will be distributed directly to the institution to which awardees are attending.  The amount of assistance varies.  When reviewing applications and determining amount of assistance we take into account:  

  1.  financil need
  2. previous school performance
  3. information on your application

How to Apply

  • Step 1:  Download  Application HERE complete and mail to:

  • Step 2:  Then write a 250 word essay and include:

    1.      A short biography (who you are and your current studies)

    2.      How the scholarship money will be used (the institution it will be sent to apply toward tuition, fees, supplies, etc.)

    3.      Explanation of your need

    4.      When completed mail to:

  • Step 3:  Invited applicants attend interview with members of C.A.R.E.  
  • Step 4:  You will be notified of C.A.R.E. committee’s decision by chairperson, Linda Finger.
